Bambarakanda Water Fall


Location
Situated in Kalupahana, Badulla district. From Badulla, Colombo highway, turn left from kalupahana when you come from Colombo. Go ahead 5 km on that road. Road is in good condition and you will pass nice mountain sceneries. Road is not wide enough to pass two vehicles, but you may find wide enough places as well, in case you come across another vehicle. Once the vehicle is parked, there is 250 m walking to and that path is bit tricky to climb.

Colombo-->Ratnapura-->Balangoda-->Kalupahana
Badulla-->Bandarawella-->Haputale-->Beragala-->Kalupahana

Attraction
Highest water fall(263m) in Sri Lanka.
Isolated place and nice mountain views.

Activities
  • There is pine tree forest on that way to waterfall basement. It is fun to have walk around there.
  • You Can have a bath in ice cold water.
  • Enjoy the isolated environment.
  • The road from kalupahana actually lead to Horton plain. It would be ideal to see the waterfall on the way to Horton plain.

Acacia Inn - Horton Plain


Location
Guest house located close to Horton Plain. Passing Ohiya railway station, proceed the way 5 km toward Horton Plain. Halfway through you find junction with a name board "Udaveriya estate". Take the left turn and go 2 km and you fill find the rest house. This road will lead to Kalupahana.

Attraction
Very nice sceneries of mountain and tea estate. see the front view of World end!

5 Km walk to Bambarakanda water falls
5 km to Horton Plain.

Morning Side - Sinharaja Forest - Suriyakanda


Location:-
From Colombo ->Rathnapura -> Deniyaya -> Suriyakanda -> Carlton Hill
From Galle -> Deniyaya -> Suriyakanda -> Carlton Hill

Attraction:-
Isolated tea estate closed to Sinharaja Forest. You won't see anybody except birds and wild life.. area has misty weather during the daylight and feel like in up country..One of the best place to enjoy the silence and isolation.. no disturbance at all.

Activities:-
Journey to Sinharaja Forest and look some waterfalls
Having a bath in the river closed by the guest house.(ice cold water)
Eating fruit in the vicinity (Fruit called dham)
Walk to adjacent colonial bungalow built by English.

Four wheel vehicle or Van. Car can't go as the road is very dilapidated.
